Report on Bavaria – useful information to plan your own trip
If you are interested in travel itineraries in Germany on your own, Bavaria is a must-see travel destination for nature, history and culture lovers. In this report you will find information and tips for planning your trip to Bavaria.
South Bavaria is considered one of the most picturesque corners of Germany due to its beautiful landscapes. In the region you can find wonderful national parks, emerald lakes known for their unparalleled purity, gorges, beautiful views of the Alps and picturesque trails ideal for hiking. There is also a curiosity from World War II - the infamous Eagle's Nest, Hitler’s mountain residence, and the concentration camp in Dachau - a museum in the memory of the Holocaust. This region is also appealing to lovers of excellent architecture – in beautiful cities like Augsburg or Munich. In the latter, in addition to Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo architecture, we also find excellent art galleries and museums, including the interesting museum of the Bayern Munich sports club. The city is also worth visiting during the famous Oktoberfest !
This largest state in southern Germany is known also for its historic cities, of which Nuremberg is probably the most famous. The history of Bavaria dates back to Roman times, which is confirmed by numerous excavations carried out in its area. In this region you will find especially many monuments related to the Middle Ages - magnificent Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Rococo buildings in Regensburg, the charming old city of Bamberg. Nurnberg was an important city during the infamous period of Nazi Power. As a result, the city lost a large part of the old city in the bombing but fortunately, it was carefully restored after WW II.
